Columbus area homes sales up 11% in December

Central Ohio housing sales continued a string of gains into the last month of the year, climbing 11 percent in December, the Columbus Board of Realtors reported Monday.

The board said sales of existing single-family homes and condominium hit 1,464 last month, up from 1,314 in December 2008. The average sale price for the month rose 5 percent to $157,130 from $149,741.
